1/1 Scale Gundam RX-78-2 at Shiokaze Park More Images

More images of the 1/1 Scale Gundam RX-78-2 built at Shiokaze Park in Tokyo for Gundam 30th Anniversary. The construction is completed about a month in advance before it's officially open for public viewing on July 11th.

It's reported that the number of visitors have increased greatly since June 10th, as the statue approached its completion. There were more than 1,000 visitors to the park last Saturday (June 13th), and on Sunday, visitors can be seen having picnics near the statue, and with no surprise, many were seen busy taking photos with their cell phones and camera.

Some even expressed their wish of seeing a statue of Zaku being built as well.

Images and report from Manichi.

On a related noted, Nippon Travel announces Gundam Project Official Tour, some sort of tour package I think, allowing participants to view the statue from a room, with other special benefits, including Gunpla as well.

To be available in mid June. More information will be released in the future.

Information from Gundam 30th Anniversary official site.

What an awesome sight it is right now at Shiokaze Park. As a Gundam fan, I'm totally touched T__T

The date of display for the statue is from July 11th till August 31st, but folks visiting the part right now would be able to view it anyway ^^

Gundam Color Management

The Color of Gundam

The progress report on the construction of Bandai Namco Groups' "Real G" project - a life size Gundam RX-78-2 statue at Shiokaze Park (潮風公園) in Tokyo has come to Vol. 6, and the discussion this time is on the selection of colors to be painted on the statue.

Don't you wish you could get the chance to airbrush such a huge model? XD

The date of display for the statue is from July 11th till August 31st, about a month from now.

Highly anticipatable ^^

The next review (Vol. 7) will include the installation of mist jet gimmick in the statue, as shown in the second last image.

1/1 Gundam RX-78-2 - Arms & Body Build

1/1 Gundam RX-78-2 - Arms & Body in Progress

More work in progress images of Bandai Namco Groups' "Real G" project - a life size Gundam RX-78-2 statue at Shiokaze Park (潮風公園) in Tokyo. The partially done legs shown last Sunday are completed now, and the construction team is now working on the arms and body armor ^^

It's amazing to see that the legs are done with just the iron frame of the leg supporting the mass ^^

Production of the body and waist armors ^^

Complete with warning messages here and there to increase the feel of realism.

Work in progress for the arm - the shoulder joint can be seen as well.

According to the same report, the completed statue will weight about 35 tons. I can't remember the specs, but the actual weight of Gundam RX-78-2 according to its mecha setting is a lot heavier than this life-size statue I think.

The date of display for the statue is from July 11th till August 31st, but the work in progress images are very exciting to see as well ^^
